WTO Trade Facilitation Panel To OK Three - Phase Work Plan Next Week

The World Trade Organization committee working to prepare the new trade facilitation (TF) agreement for implementation is slated to formally adopt its work plan on March 10 in a meeting that has been pushed back from its originally scheduled date of March 6, according to Geneva sources. Under the work plan, the Preparatory Committee on Trade Facilitation will first conduct legal scrubbing of the TF agreement; second, it will draft a protocol of amendment inserting the TF deal into the broader WTO agreement; and third, it will receive notifications from developing country members about which TF obligations they will implement upon the entry into force of the agreement. These are known as Category A commitments.
