Vilsack Says U.S. Finalizing Agenda For China Dialogue On Ag Biotech

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said the administration is finalizing a proposed agenda for a high-level dialogue with China that the two sides last year agreed to set up and that will address delays in Beijing's approval of agricultural biotechnology, which have hampered U.S. exports of grain to China. "We are in the process now of completing an agenda for the dialogue that could take place in 2015, to submit it to the Chinese," Vilsack said in a conference call on April 3 organized by Business Forward. He added that one focus of the talks will be how innovation in biotechnology can benefit both Chinese and U.S. producers and increase global food security.
