摘要

Enhancement of multichannel signals is one of important problem in signal processing field. Color image is one of typical multichannel signals. Contrast enhancement of color images useful for facilitating the photo-interpretation and analysis of images. This is useful in numerous applications, such as the analysis of reconnaissance images, remote sensing, and industrial inspection. Contrast enhancement can be achieved by modifying the pixel color values in order to obtain a better utilization of the available color space Histogram processing of color images usually performed by independent processing of three components (e.g., R, G, and B signals or Y, and Q signals). However, this method is unable to exploit the full extent of colors available. Recently, Mlsna proposed the histogram explosion (HF) technique that performs full 3D processing and procedures output image whose histograms approach the full display gamut. However, since color components are not separated for processing, histogram explosion requires more computation. In order to conquer the defect of computational effort of the HE technique, Mlsna also proposed a contrast enhancement method, which ii called the histogram decimation (HD) method, in RGB space. The HD method shows the excellent performance. However, some points are should be improved. Iii this paper, we propose a modified HD (MHD) method. The proposed method realize almost an ideal enhancement result (i.e., the distribution of transformed signals histogram is almost uniform distribution).
