摘要

A potential trade challenge of Chinese subsidies announced by President Obama at the height of his reelection campaign last year has been pending for nearly a year, even though Beijing has given no clear indication that it will halt its policy that the U.S. had charged amounted to doling out millions of dollars in export subsidies to its domestic auto parts makers. In response to an inquiry, an official at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative acknowledged that the U.S. and China held formal consultations - the first step toward a legal challenge at the World Trade Organization - in November of last year. "We are currently continuing our engagement with China to explore options for addressing U.S. concerns in this matter," the official added.
