EU Forms New TTIP Oversight Group; Malmstrom To Meet Froman This Month

The European Union's college of commissioners on March 4 agreed to set up a new high-level oversight body for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) to ensure that the various arms of the EU's executive branch take a coordinated approach to the trade talks. The group will be headed up by Frans Timmermans, first vice president of the European Commission and the right-hand man to President Jean-Claude Juncker. The other permanent members of the group will be Jyrki Katainen, vice president for jobs, growth, investment and competitiveness, and Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom.
