摘要

The European Union's ambassador to the United States said the EU would not reduce its ambitions for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) in order to conclude negotiations in 2016, and that if negotiations do not wrap up in that timeframe that they would likely be delayed until late 2017 or early 2018. "I want to be very clear: no TTIP light, no TTIP of lowered ambitions," Ambassador David O'Sullivan said on Dec. 8 in a discussion with reporters at the EU delegation. "We believe this deal will only succeed if it is a high ambition deal. ... I know this is shared by the [U.S.] administration. We will not be able to sell a TTIP which has a lower ambition."
