摘要

World Trade Organization Director-General Roberto Azevedo late last week announced the portfolios for each of his four deputy director-generals (DDGs), and assigned David Shark, the DDG from the United States, a different policy focus than his predecessor, Rufus Yerxa. The policy areas in Shark's portfolio are agriculture, environment and accessions, while Yerxa had overseen the WTO secretariat divisions on market access and intellectual property (IP). These two areas are now under the purview of Yi Xiaozhun, the new DDG from China, who will also oversee trade in services. Shark, Yi and the two other new DDGs begin work on Oct. 1.
