摘要

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative plans to press South Korea to apply more broadly a commitment it made under the U.S.-Korea free trade agreement to allow express delivery shipments valued at less than $200 to enter the country duty-free and without formal customs entry documents. USTR, in response to questions for the record submitted by members of the Senate Finance Committee in March, said that it will "urge Korea to apply the $200 de minimis level to all express shipments, regardless of whether they are from the United States." USTR's responses to the senators' questions were obtained last week by Inside U.S. Trade. Currently, South Korea is only applying the $200 de minimis level to express shipments originating from U.S. ports, and has set a de minimis of 150,000 won (about $140) for express shipments from countries other than the U.S., according to USTR.
