Method for evaluating long-term strength of polymer composites allowing for fatigue degradation and size effect

For polymer composites to be used rationally in municipal andindustrial pipeline systems it is necessary to know how theirproperties will vary throughout the whole period of service asdegradation processes induced by load and various physi- cal/chemicaleffects result in decreasing mechanical properties and reducedindexes of structural integrity. The presented method of evaluatingthe long-term strength of polymer composite pipework is based onresults from laboratory tests of resi- dual strength in materialsubject to degradation under fatigue loading or prolonged staticloading.
