Dept. of Labor extends review period in U.S.-Peru FTA labor dispute

The U.S. Department of Labor has extended by six months a review of Peru's efforts to meet labor commitments under the U.S.-Peru free trade agreement, saying that despite some progress over the past nine months of dialogue, multiple areas of concern still need to be addressed. The six-month extension of the review effectively punts the dispute into the hands of the incoming Trump administration. Neither President-elect Trump nor his transition team have commented directly on the U.S.-Peru FTA.
