摘要

The implementation of the Trans-Pacific Partnership would result in the relaxation of the rule of origin for textiles under the U.S.-Singapore free trade agreement by applying the TPP short supply list for textiles to that agreement, according to industry sources. This means that textiles from Singapore can use inputs on the TPP short supply list, but be subject to the duty rates agreed to under the U.S.-Singapore FTA immediately upon implementation of TPP, rather than the phaseouts negotiated in TPP. The U.S.-Singapore FTA, which entered into force in 2004, eliminated duties on Singaporean textiles.
