The IEICE Transactions on Information and Systems announces a Special Section on "Natural Language Processing and its Applications" to be published in December 2009. The aim is to discuss fundamentals and state of the art in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and analyze the current progress in development of technologies regarding NLP such as speech translation, information retrieval, language resources and so on. This special section solicits research work that offers innovative contributions from theoretical to application point of view. This special section also welcomes paper submission from researchers of this field in foreign countries as well as in Japan, for example from people who present papers at ISUC2008.
