We take for granted the fact that we can use our current mobile phones to communicate by voice or text to any other person. However, the environment in which next generation services are being delivered is subject to new technical, commercial, regulatory and geopolitical forces. Customers will expect greater levels of performance, simplicity of operation, and interoperability between devices, services and applications. In practice, we might expect commercial drivers to lead us generally towards a successful model, but there may be various difficulties and failures along the way.
