Industrial scents incorporated into consumer products are a key manufacturing component, adding value and distinguishing many companies' 'product lines. This case study recounts the recent improvements undertaken at a European facility that produces 160 varieties of perfume from more than 900 types of raw materials. When complete, the project will connect the shop floor to the enterprise level by adding a new production control system (PCS) and upgrading the batch process and plant control systems.
