Kansas City Power and Light (KCP&L) didn't know it needed a change-it ran its coal-fired power generating plants as usual, operating on some degree f uncerrtainty because systmes didn't communicate everything that happened in th plants. It wasn't until operators at the La Cygne plant saw what their new system was catching that the company realized a change was long overdue.
