Having touched on the benefits of using ISO 18435(www.isa.org/link/0107Channel)and having looked at the approach and scope of standard(www.isa.org/link/ 0207Channel),consider some of the specific extensions to be of use in the project.A joint working group of the IEC SC65A and the ISO TC184/SC5 technical subcommittees is actively developing a multi-part IEC 62264 standard based on the ISA-95 specifications that define an information exchange framework to facilitate the integration of business applications and manufacturing control applications,within an enterprise.
