While you can almost feel the entire industry holding its breath every time a new manufacturing report comes out, this one showed some positive signs. Wayne Morris sat comfortably one floor above the buzz of National Manufacturing Week explaining how his company was faring during this horrid industry recession. Australia-based Ci Technologies' new CEO offered some thoughts on why it seems his company will grow this year—not only in the U.S. but globally. Among other things, he is wrapping his model around the idea end users don't want to tie down their plant floors to one company's "proprietarily open, our way or the highway" way of doing business. Users, he said, don't want to go out and make that huge big-ticket purchase at a one-stop shop anymore. Instead, they want to buy product that is platform agnostic.
