Fieldbus: Where do we stand?

There are two choices in network selection: Use your favored supplier and their network, or use a supplier who supports your chosen network. All networks are adequate. When fieldbuses work in the factory, the purpose has been to reduce installation cost by moving the I/O interface from the programmable logic controller (PLC) to a remote I/O unit mounted close to the machine on the factory floor.
