Editorial

摘要

After graduating from Bangalore Medical College in South India in 1967, I obtained postgraduate training in surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), in New Delhi. I superannuated from the AIIMS two years ago after an eventful four decades of service from house surgeon to chief of service. During this academic marathon, I have held positions of importance in teaching, training and administration. With a modest bibliography and an extensive experience in valvular surgery, I have had the good fortune of being accepted in prestigious professional organizations. I have edited the Indian Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery for twelve years, been an editorial consultant to many journals and am a member of the editorial board of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. I have accepted the position of Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals from June 2011, in the footsteps of my illustrious predecessors.
