Dilatation of internal mammary arteries in adult presenting aortic coarctation

A 19-year-old woman with a history of dyspnea (New York Heart Association class III) and hypertension was admitted for surgical repair of aortic coarcta-tion. Chest computed tomography showed tortuous and dilated internal mammary arteries (Figure 1), most pronounced on the left side, as a consequence of aortic coarctation discovered at an older age, and an ascending aortic aneurysm (Figure 2). This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commerical, or not-for-profit sectors.
