Measurement of Forces Applied and Work Performed in Pedalling a Stationary Bicycle Ergometer

A simple inexpensive adaptation of a stationary bicycle ergometer is described which enables continuous recordings to be made of the forces exerted during one and two leg cycling. The system showed no systematic change in calibration characteristics over a six week period of intensive use. The coefficient of variation of 20 calibrations made during that period was 2.
