Addressing Prodlems in Developing Countries

Agriculture is fundamental to the prosperity of most developing countries. Global demand for food is expected to increase by 50% in the next 15 to 25 years and challenges facing farmers throughout the developing world remain immense. To meet this need, sustainable agriculture with high productivity and yields will depend on the development and dissemination of appropriate technologies. IACR has had considerable experience in confronting the technical aspects of agricultural and environmental problemsaround the world. Successful transfer of the technologies is ensured through close collaboration with organisations who have a demonstrated expertise in appropriate social, economic and cultural concerns. Below are some examples illustrating how technical expertise within the Institute has been used to address problems in the developing world.
