Red clow crayfish (Che rax quadricarinatus) began to be found in Lake Kariba in the early 2000s. As an invasive species, a major concern is that it can cause considerable ecological damage. Nevertheless, a nascent industry has developed and crayfish is being marketed in small volumes, including a trial shipment to the EU.
