Stocks of small pelagics are generally good but a new El Nino could affect South American supply

Norway, which is one of the world's major suppliers of small pelagics, reported record-breaking export figures for the first half of 2012. Exports were up by 6% compared with last year. Many small pelagic stocks are in good shape, and higher landingsare expected for many operators. Herring supplies are expected to improve. Prices may suffer, though.
