State of Tanzania E-Readiness and E-Commerce: Overview

The emergence and evolution of e-commerce has proved to be a highly successful and profitable venture for companies of different sizes and origins. With the global potential of e-commerce growing, Tanzania stands to gain considerably from sustainable e-commerce activities and solutions considering that a number of products and services available in Tanzania remain unique to the country and the effective facilitation of cross-border trading could substantially stimulate local Tanzanian economies. However, evidence on the ground shows that the hype and promise of e-commerce has not been realized at the rate which policy documents and government claim.
