Solving a problem is a bit like doing a jigsaw—we find out little bits of information that in isolation mean nothing but, if you can fit them all together, a picture of what has happened begins to emerge. In many respects it's like being a detective. The difficulty is knowing where to find these litde snippets of information and how to interpret them. To do this successfully requires competence. Competence is a combination of personal attributes, and technical skills and knowledge of the leather-making process and its raw materials.
