The February 15 issue of the magazine New Scientist reports that the United Kingdom is considering forcing biotechnology companies to use "DNA bar coding" to identify genetically modified (GM) organisms.The National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB) in Cambridge,United Kingdom,has been granted a patent on a DNA bar coding technique.
