Although the nurse educator is responsible for teaching the diagnostic process, there has been a paucity of research/writing that gives a direction or focus to that teaching. This author, based on research conducted with juniors in a baccalaureate nursing program, discusses specific types of diagnostic errors repeatedly made by the students and offers teaching strategies to reduce these errors.
