Swiss law calls into question the issue of 'plant dignity'

In late April, Nature reported that the Swiss government—through its ethics committee concerned with nonhuman biotechnology—had developed guidelines for use by grant agencies to determine which research projects could "deeply offend" plant dignity. If a research application was found as too offensive to the dignity of plants, funds for the project would not be granted.
