Bailey Award given to Kiyotaka Sato

The North Central Section of the AOCS presented the 2008 Alton E.Bailey Award to Kiyotaka Sato of Hiroshima University in Japan at the AOCS Annual Meeting&Expo in Seattle,Washington,USA.The North Central Section established this award-which was first given in 1959-to recognize outstanding research and exceptional service in the field of lipids and associated products.The medal commemorates Alton E.Bailey's prolific contributions to the field of fats and oils as a researcher,as an author of several standard books in the field,and as a leader in the work of AOCS.
