Since its inception, it has been my privilege to be associated with Clinical Scholars Review (CSR) in various roles. As I complete my tenure as editor-in-chief, I would like to recognize the talented individuals who have contributed to this journal. Their efforts have expanded the understanding of doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degree-prepared nurses' scholarship and contributions to our evolving health care system. The need for this journal became apparent several years before the first issue was published. During informal discussions, leadership and faculty at Columbia University School of Nursing considered the roles of PhD- and DNP-prepared nurses, their relationships, and potential contribution to health care in the context of recommendations from the Institute of Medicine, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and National Academy of Science (Smith, 2008).
