ARMY EYES QUICK ADOPTION OF HYDROGEN FUEL CELLS FOR SMALLER SYSTEMS

The Army is focused on making greater use of hydrogen fuel cells - touted as safer for the environment than batteries or gasoline engines - in the near term for many of its smaller electronic systems used in the field,according to Army officials.They will likely be used as a battery alternative to run radios,remote sensors,video cameras and laser equipment - as opposed to powering anything more elaborate,such as vehicles - industry representatives and military officials said Jan.26 at a Capitol Hill meeting of the Senate Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Caucus.
