Acoustic phenomena in erosion of sparkhyphen;gap electrodes

Experiments have been conducted to show that acoustic waves generated in the electrode material may cause an orderhyphen;ofhyphen;magnitude increase in the rate of electrode erosion. This increase is due to the arrival of reflected acoustic waves at the electrode surface while arc rsquo;rsquo;spotsrsquo;rsquo; are still molten.
