Emerging environmental auditing regulations in Brazil and the prospects for their implementation

This article sketches the international background of the environmental auditing concept. It also presents the institutional framework, laws and regulations of Brazilian environmental policy. The present status of environmental auditing in Brazilian industry is examined, together with likely future developments including the potential role and risks of this type of auditing.
