Rapidly Visualizing Isophotes

For computer-aided design it is often necessary to identify regions of unwanted curvature in a surface. Isophotes can be used to detect first- and second-order discontinuities in a surface. This paper describes a method to visualize isophotes using existing hardware or software display and false colour capabilities. This method is faster and easier to implement than t he traditional approach of explicitly computing isophotes.
