Statistical software testing using economic exposure assessments

A systematic and objective way is presented to test software statistically, using the expected operational economic loss due to failure resulting from faults encountered in different parts of the software. A testing probability distribution is derived that will maximise the selection of test input stimuli that have the highest potential failure consequence.
