ISTA 6 - the 6th International Symposium on Tilapia in Aquaculture

"New Dimensions in Farmed Tilapia" was the theme of ISTA 6 held in Manila from the 12-16 September 2004. This series of symposia was initiated in Israel in 1983 and then went to Thailand, Ivory Coast, Florida and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, The proceedings of these meetings assemble the most up to date information for farmers, scientists and processors and are a very important vehicle for bringing together the various sectors of this very diverse and rapidly expanding industry. This year it was sponsoredby the Bureau of Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippines and the American Tilapia Association (ATA) and co-sponsored by Schering Plough-Aquaculture (a global aquaculture health company) and FYD International (a Philippines-based consultancy and feed company). Collaborators included Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Research and Development (PCAMRD), Aquaculture Collaborative Research Support Program (CRSP), Philippine Tilapia Inc and the Philippines Fisheries and Aquaculture Associations.
