Synthesis and Physicochemical Studies of Some Oxovanadium(IV) Complexes of Hydroxy- and Aminobenzoates

The oxovanadium(IV) complexes of hydroxy- and amino-benzoates have been synthesized and characterised by micro-analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, infrared and electronic reflectance spectra. The complexes of the hydroxybenzoates appear to be five-coordinate while their mixed ligand complexes with benzoate and the aminobenzoates are six-coordinate. The influence of carboxylate ions in the #x2018;anomalous#x2019; behaviour of this class of compounds is discussed.
