In order to miniaturize micro-optic devices, mini quartz-rod-lens collimators were developed by using PCVD (Plasma Chemical Vapor Deposition) method and CO{sub}2 laser splicing technology. By using these collimators, 90 volume reduction with comparison to conventional micro-optic devices is realized where miniature Gain Flattening Filters and Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexers were successfully constructed.
