Ultrastructure of mesophyll cells of spruce needles exposed to O3alone and together with SO2

AbstractMesophyll cells of spruce Picea abies(L.) Karst. needles fumigated for two months with O3alone and together with SO2were studied with electron microscope. The observations showed the specific type of injuries for both pollutants, the dependency of severity of injuries both on the concentration of the pollutant and the duration of daily exposure as well as enhanced effects with combined O3and SO2in the older needles.
