Marathon cuts US Gulf coast crude rates

Maintenance at all three Marathon Petroleum refineries in the US Gulf coast will cut first quarter crude throughputs by 19.2pc from a year ago, the company said today. The refiner plans major maintenance across the region, including the first turnaround work on units added during a 2009 expansion at the 562,000 b/d refinery in Garyville, Louisiana. Work on a hydrocracker and a crude unit was underway in early January.
