Summarycolon;A brief history is given of the development of therapy for Trigeminal Neuralgia. The currently acceptable methods of treatment are described. They include medicine, Percutaneous Microcompression (balloon) (PMC), Percutaneous Glycerol Injection, Percutaneous Radio Frequency Heat (RF), Posterior Fossa Micro Vascular Decompression (MVD) and Posterior Fossa Partial Root Section (PRS). Details include operative technique, complications and results. There is a brief comparative evaluation. It is recognized that no method is perfect. It is pointed that an evaluation of the risk/gain factor will vary with the patient and the procedure. For certain indications and for certain patients' comfort in risk/gain acceptance, one method may be perferable to another.
