The UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the UK's official body that ensures that the applications of standards and benchmarks conforms to what is required of them. UKAS works with about 1,500 laboratories, 180 certification bodies, and 200 inspection bodies. UKAS also works with international standards like the ISO. UKAS mainly works by checking that the affiliated body is qualified to assess the standards and the outcomes of a training. UKAS scrutinizes at the systems that assess the ability of the scheme to deliver the results. UKAS works where a judgment of safety, quality, competence or conformity to a standard is being made.
