David Allford was certainly fortunate in finding work in one of the country's leading practices at a time when government policies virtually guaranteed a constant stream of interesting projects. He was fortunate in having the firm's three founding partners, especially F R S Yorke and Yorke's long-term associate Randall Evans, to nurture his career. But the firm was fortunate in having David. He repaid these early obligations with interest, to the extent that when Yorke Rosenberg and Mardall might have lost its way, David, aided by Brian Henderson, stiffened its resolve, developed new paths and ensured that difficult succession to the second generation.
