Aerogels containing palladium metal nanoparticles were prepared using an ionic liquid route and tested for activity towards hydrogenation and Heck C-C coupling reactions.In the last few years nanocomposites based on inorganic nanoparticles have attracted considerable interest due to their wide range of applications in areas as diverse as photoelectronics to catalysis [1].
