(1,10-phen)_2Mo_3O_9: a new one-dimensional organic/inorganic hybrid material consisting of two {MoO_4N_2} octahedra and one {MoO_4} tetrahedron alternately

A new one-dimensional organic/inorganic hybrid, (1,10-phen)_2Mo_3O_9 (1), has been prepared by a hydrothermal method using (~nBu_4N)_2Mo_6O_19 and 1,10-phenanthroline and structurally characterized. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2 with a = 14.9794(3), b = 9.7102(2), c = 10.3280(2)A, #beta# = 118.0949(6)~°，V = 1325.23(5)A~3, Z = 2, and R1 = 0.0335, wR2 = 0.0877. The structure consists of the chain of corner-sharing {MoO_4N_2} octahedra and {MoO_4} tetrahedra that alternate such that each {MoO_4N_2} octahedron corner-shares with another such octahedron and an {MoO_2} tetrahedron; consequently, each {MoO_4} tetrahedron corner-shares with two {MoO_4N_2} octahedra. The chains in the crystal are parallel to each both b and c axes and form pseudo-two-dimensional channels through the hydrogen bonds along both a and b axes.
