AbstractTrialkylboron–alkyl halide catalyst systems were found to induce the polymerization of vinyl bromide and other vinyl monomers at low temperatures. Tri‐n‐butylboron is the most effective catalyst. Among alkyl halide, carbon tetrachloride gives the best yield of poly(vinyl bromide).
