Prevention of Microbial Catheter Contamination in Patients Receiving Parenteral Hyperalimentation

Infectious complications associated with long-term hyperalimentation via subclavian venous catheters were studied in a cross-section of patients with oncologic disease. The microbial catheter contamination rate was 7.5percnt; and no septic complications resulted. We attribute our minimal complication rate to the technics of intravenous hyperalimentation outlined in the manuscript.
