A novel dimeric pentamolybdate [4,4'-H_2bipy]_3[4,4'-Hbipy]_2[(Mo_5O_(17))_2(4,4'-bipy)],teh first example of a 4,4'-bipyridine bridging dumbbell-like polyoxomolybdates,hasbeen prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and characterized by X-ray crystallography.
