Emblemosporais described as a new genus of the Sordariaceae. It is characterized by clavate asci each provided with a small apical ring and dark, one-celled ascospores possessing numerous small plate-like markings and a germ pore at one or both ends of the spore. This genus is established for two new species,E. ditremaandE. monotrema, both found on burro dung collected in Venezuela. Descriptions and illustrations are provided and a key to the species is included.
